I am a conservative, a scientist, and an art quilter. I enjoy the home arts and spend a lot of my time sewing, cooking, baking and preserving. My work as a paint chemist overlaps my need to be creative. I work with color and problem solving every day and often find inspiration for my quilts in what I do.
I tend a garden every summer and spend my fall making jams, relishes, and sauces for the pantry. Each holiday season I make lots of pies, cookies and homemade food gifts for my friends and coworkers. Being the only one in my family comfortable with a sewing machine, I am often called upon to hem, repair and mend various items as well as design totes and cloth cases for specific purposes.
My quilting style? Well, I am evolving. What I found is that I like to take something that is somewhat traditional and twist it up a bit. Most of the time the twist is something to do with the quilting, sometimes it is the color. My current obsession is embellishments and interesting fibers for quilting, couching and other thread work. I am also beginning to investigate the world of thread painting.
